A night in King's Park (Perth,WA)

So it's seems like there's not much to photograph in my neighbourhood, it's pretty run down and
not the most scenic area by any means. This saw me and my flatmates Rene, Miso and Norah driving into Perth once again, this time to King's Park, with high hopes of a beautiful sunset to capture.

It was yet again a hot and sweaty day and it felt good when the sun finally settled and the temperatures eventually dropped below 30C.

King's Park, to my surprise, was full of people that sunday evening and most of them stayed on well past 10pm when we left. Seems like not many people have to work on mondays...!?

In terms of capturing a pretty sunset I was a little bit disappointed as there were no clouds in the sky, which made for a rather boring subject. So we had to think of a different strategy. A few days ago I went to Target and found a pretty amazing deal on a SLIK tripod for only AU$20 including head. [Sure the model wasn't top range, but for this little money you don't need to think twice:)] This reminded me that I always wanted to try out a sunset HDR.

Now, the West side of King's Park lay actually hidden behind trees and wasn't an option for me to take photo's of so I had to work with the sunset reflections in the East which would perfectly allign with the city's skyline.

Once I had the city in the box I decided to create a full HDR Panorama of perth and the Swan RIver, which turned out to be a good idea. Even without clouds, the images turned out really cool!

So I figured it was time to quickly move around and try to get some more shots of the city and the Memorial from a slightly new angle. Those two shots are HDR's, too, and I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out!

Once the sun finally settled, there was not much left to take pictures of as the light conditions worsened I figured that the above scene had already been captured a million times before. But hey, it's the best viewing point in Perth - what you gonna do? :)

Right at the end, it would have been around 9.45pm already, I wandered a little bit further away from the crowds, back towards the entry of the park and came across this huge tree that had a whole bunch of it's roots exposed. Kinda reminded me of Angkor Wat a little, only without the temples.

Yeah, after 5hrs in the Park it was time to call it a day and head back home into the outer Suburbs. Back to my Mosquito friends, who have patiently been waiting for me in my room...:)
